Happy Wednesday

Steve's Blog

My original blog has long been lost. It was quite popular in its day. I use it now to keep track of what I am doing with dreamharder and a few observations on my life as a recovering drug addict/alcoholic.

If you have any comments to make you can use the feedback forums. It is free to register and will only take a few minutes of your time.

Pig

We bought half a pig yesterday. It was dead and cut up into bits, which is good thing as half a pig gamboling around the kitchen would be inconvenient. And we’d probably have the half with the bottom.

We’ll be making some ham.

Another New Year

We started this one without any electricity. Then we got some snow. Not enough to make a snow man, but enough to freeze over and make an ice-rink. I’ve got a cold or something and by the sound of it some dafter bugger has got stuck up snowdon again. Lets hope they are safe and well.

Re-Moving

I used to be in the “Do Room” with Asha and her toys. For many reasons this didn’t really work, so I am now in the lounge, behind the sofa, much like the old days. This has been made possible now we have found a source of decent scrap wood which allows us to keep the house warm.

Asha and her toys are now exclusively in “Asha’s Playroom”. Dunno where the “Do Room” has moved to. I expect it will turn up at some point.

Gone and Back

I’ve moved server after many years of borrowing web-space from Manu. What I got was fantastic for free, but over the years DH has become my main website, email, centre of my on-line experience and I am usually stuffed when his server has had the wobblies.

So here I am on another server. Some things are missing – presumed lost forever, other things are in a folder somewhere on my system. Until they are found some so-called features of this site may not work as intended.

If you find broken things, please let me know.

Thursday

Thursday used to be like Tuesday. It is something that has always been true. Until now. Today it feels like a Friday. On the plus side it is sunny and I’ve got my washig out to dry again. Should things continue in this manner, I can see that our washing pile is soon to become and ex-washing pile.

I have some belly pork cremating in the oven for tea. What the Vickster is going to bring back to go with it will be a surprise. I’m hoping it will be something easy.

Tada!

Cooking

The kitchen was full of stuff going on today. After acquiring certain ingredients it was inevitable that veggie pate was going to be made as well as some veggie burgers. The pate was surprisingly easy. Though it’s resemblance to “stuffing” in both texture and flavour is an exaggeration.

Asha had an idea though. We made mint chocolate and chilli spread. It is rather nice.

Back Again

Simple everyday things that we have missed on our journey include stairs, dry kindling, a comfy chair and of course, the electric…. yes that’s right, the electric…. kettle; such a truly simple thing; hot water in three minutes, whenever I want it.

I am enjoying a beverage made with said device right now. And my feet are warm.

Very Fast

We are going away soon and I realised that my supply of suitable trousers for being outside in is much lower than previously expected. With this in mind I went on ebay yesterday and ordered two pairs of combat trousers.

Less than 24 hours later, the postie arrives with said trousers.

Fantastic.

Busy Day

Despite getting up at 10:30am and having my first lie-in for about 3 years, I have managed to do quite a lot. We had a lovely fried breakfast to start the day. I spent most of the afternoon laying reclaimed carpet tiles in the kitchen. We went to pick up a freecycle sofa which is perfect for our most-used-room-in-the-house room. It turned out the bloke we collected it from is a pig farmer, so as soon as we get a freezer we’ll be acquiring half a pig.

Tempus

So it’s march already. Back in November there was a list of things to be done by now.
I have missed the targets mostly.

Number of things listed on Ebay – 0 (that’s a zero)
Bank accounts set up: 0 (that is another zero)
Cash saved: 0 (yep that is another zero)
Caravans owned: 1.

On the plus side is an unexpected website practically completed and receiving lots of positive feedback from all quarters.

We also have a woodburner for camping and a tow bar, thanks to John for them.

I am also thinking of redesigning this site and trimming some of the excess bits off and adding new more exciting things like images from my microscope.

Microscope

We have acquired a microscope from Mr & Mrs Internet. It has a USB thing. Me and the little ‘un went out into the garden looking for things to look at in greater detail. The best was when we looked at the inner bits of the flower we could see the pollen. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen, ever in the history of everything.

Of course that’s easy to explain. Words still fail me when I think of seeing little Asha for the first time.

February already

OMG its February already. I’ve got my 2nd TMA to do. I’m falling behind with the course work again. I still have a lurgie of some kind. I have a website to update and modify somewhat. There are 1001 jobs that need doing in the house. I need to get this Ebay stuff sorted.

I am a world class procrastinator.

I have the lurgies

I have the lurgies and have just handed in my first welsh TMA a month or so late. It has been bloody hectic here what with the little ‘un and wifey being sick as well. And wifey’s TMA late too. And the network dying for no reason other than to annoy and confuse us.

On the plus side its all done now. Until later this month. Like in about a week probably.

Busy busy busy

I’ve put in about 40 hours over the last few days to making a website for a home education camp in May.

Click the link to go see it.

Moved

We’ve moved house again. We are now in a much bigger place in Snowdonia. It’s pretty here and the house is fantastic. It is also wetter and colder than our old place in Clynnog.

Fixed some stuff

I just fixed some stuff that had been annoying me for a while. No idea where the solution came from. It was just there and now everything is okay again. Just in case I forget, it was something to do with replacing the article tag with article_custom AND making sure that the category was added to the tag.

phew.

Everything is still working - almost

It is good to see that my PHP script is still working. The forums appear to be broke for some reason. I suspect that they will have to be removed and replaced by something that works better. Its a pity cos they are nice forums to work with.

I still need to get rid of the old stuff on here though and get some new content and stuff that is actually of some use – or at least something that is less useless than the useless stuff on here.

Fantastic Contraption

Posted from the Wirral.
Thanks to Charlie for this one. grrrrrr.

There goes my productivity now. What do you mean, what productivity. Its not like anything gets done or anything. Is it?

Seriously, this is worse than Pirates. Only I can’t cheat and thinking is required. I don’t have a mind of wheels and cogs. More like slugs flying from a strimmer at 4000rpm or whatever it is.

fantastic contraption

Strimmer

We got a strimmer the other day from ebay. Our garden is now strimmed and tidy looking. It’s a lovely 45cc petrol driven model. I will need to invest in a harness as the strap provided is a little uncomfortable compared to the Stihl one I have used with Arwel.

It also needs a auto feed head and I could do with buying some line as well.
